Since 2006, the Boys & Girls Club of the Greater Cook County has been a home away from home for more than 1,100 youth in Cook County and surrounding counties.

We believe that every kid has what it takes. The mission and core belief of the Boys & Girls Club fuel our commitment to promoting safe, positive, and inclusive environments for all.

Our programs are designed to meet the needs of all kids, regardless of their background or circumstances. Our programs build character, encourage healthy lifestyles and habits, and set our youth up for academic success so they leave the Club as well-rounded individuals with a plan for the future.

Who We Are
Our Mission

Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Commitment to Inclusion

We are committed to supporting youth and teens - of every race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, ability, socio-economic status, and religion - in reaching their full potential.

Our History
July 2005

A small but hopeful group of local citizens gathered to start planning a Boys and Girls Club and a Teen Center in Cook County. The group formed after former Police Chief Bill Butler reached out to local leaders about concerns as the department was seeing an influx in teen arrests.

Spring 2006

After facing any setbacks, in the spring of 2006, The Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Cook County Area opened our door at the old Cook Middle School. At the time, Cook County was the smallest county in the state to acquire our own charter. This was a huge victory and a dream come true for those in the community who had poured their hearts, time, and energy into forming the club.

In 2017

We moved to our current location at 1200 N. Hutchinson Ave. in the smaller part of the old Cook High School. Under the leadership of then CEO Jori Thompson, the Club flourished and grew substantially.

Now

The Boys and Girls Club is a home away from home for children and teens in and around the Greater Cook County area. The Club provides a safe place for children in the community to learn, grow, and play.
